Depends on if someone wants pc to website influence and website to pc influence. Also depends on how big the site is and if they want clunky web server/database server services running in the background while they're using their pc. Also, with a server, it's going to need to stay up and running. so unless someone up and gets a new computer for the server, that will wear down on their pc's lifespan. I've already done it on mine, but I'm not up for building a new computer just for being a server (I already have OCD with one computers hardware - I can't afford two, lol), no CPU issues (quad core), no memory issues (6GB), no space issues (well 2TBs), but heat becomes a problem if I want to do something CPU demanding (and I have water cooling).

I bought a Xeon server for a fair price and its not that loud once i put the side panels on it. But hosting your self is a investment i suppose. i mean if your serious about hosting server is the way to go I personaly think.
