I noticed the topic had been closed, but may i ask what kind of hard drive, including the manufacturer, speed and cache it has? I think you might be exceeding the drives cache while loading all of those fonts. So you may need a higher grade drive. Something with more cache or even setting this up in a raid, trying a SSD, or scsi drive. While this would require an investment, and even a motherboard change, it could be the solution to your problem, and even enhance performance overall.

I have a 640gb 5400rpm hard drive with 6mb L3 cache.
My solution was to delete all of the fonts on my computer and remove the shortcuts inside the system fonts folder. All problems were fixed after that. I noticed a significant improvement of startup and shutdown speeds as well. I may, however, get a new hard drive anyways, hopefully two 500gb drives running at 5400rpm. I don't really fancy the 7200rpm drives as they're not much of an improvement over the 5400rpm for what I need.
