I can't imagine that anyone here would NOT KNOW what this means, but if there is anyone who isn't aware..... here is a little info...
"Stop Online Piracy Act" also known as House Bill 3261 or H.R. 3261, is a bill that was introduced in the United States House or Representatives on Oct. 26, 2011. The Bill if made law, would expand the ability of the U.S. law enforcement and copyright holders to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods.
Why we should be against this....
Among other things, it would cause sites to be held responsible for what users post. Imagine the internet without sites like Youtube, Vimeo, Flickr, Ladderhall. This legislation would enable law enforcement to take down an entire domain due to something posted on a single blog. An entire online community could be punished for the actions of a tiny minority. This Bill would allow the Government a broad spectrum of power to censor what's on the internet.

Yesterday was essentially StopSOPA day; a lot of websites shut down their site for the full 24 hours of the day in protest. Who knows if the bill will be shut down, considering the NDAA was passed with quite a majority of vote in Congress. 283 voted Aye (63%) and 136 voted No (31%) for the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, aka H.R. 1540. In a nutshell, the NDAA allows the USA's government to detain its citizens indefinitely if they are suspected of being a terrorist WITHOUT TRIAL.
